PRINCIPAL’S LETTER TO STUDENTS 2012-13
Our Administrative Team is excited about beginning the ninth year of A Red Fox Renaissance at Hartsville High School. We are going to continue to work extremely hard to improve our school. We want our school to be a better place for you to learn and achieve academically, and a better place for you to prepare yourself for the world of work, technical school, college, the military, or whatever you want to do after high school. We’d also like for it to be a better place for you to develop and enjoy healthy personal and social relationships. We want every student to feel welcome, comfortable, and safe at Hartsville High School while being positively encouraged toward fulfilling your goals and ambitions. Our goal is for you to have a great school that you’ll enjoy attending, take pride in, and want to contribute to in a positive way.
Each year we have talked a lot about respect , and we will to continue to emphasize that this year. We want you to have enough self-respect to make the right choices in your academic, personal, and social lives. We want you to respect each other , and for the way you treat and talk to each other to be based on understanding and tolerance. We want you to respect our teachers , so that we can have good learning environments in our classrooms. We want our teachers to respect you , so that you’ll want to come to a welcoming classroom environment and learn. When we talk about our expectations for you, we are going to be talking about expectations for success academically and personally. We would like for you to have a school in which the environment is based on respect rather than rules, and where you’ll make the right choices because it’s the right thing to do , not because of our discipline system. We want you to understand that the best kind of discipline is self-discipline , and we want you to believe that the best way to gain respect is to give respect . My challenge to each of you is to take some personal responsibility for improving our school. Each one of you can do your part with your attitude, your behavior and language, doing your best with your schoolwork, by doing your part to keep our school clean and attractive. That’s when we will have a great school.
You are the reason our school exists, and your opportunity to learn is the central issue in everything we do. You are the lifeblood and the heartbeat of our school, and you give our school its pride and its personality. Our mission of "Preparing for the Future by Learning Every Day" is dedicated entirely to you. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you have an enjoyable and productive school year. Go Foxes!
