Scott Phelps

Hello My Name Is...

Scott Phelps

I am very excited about this school year and the opportunity to work with each student.  This is my nineteenth year in teaching.   I taught Exceptional Ed. for fourteen years in Florence and two years in McBee.  This is my third year at Hartsville High School.

I grew up in Massachusetts and moved to Myrtle Beach as a sophomore in high school. I graduated from Socastee High School ('94) and then attended Coker College ('98) where I studied Psychology and Sociology and played baseball.

I met my wife, Paige, at Coker and moved to Hartsville permanently after graduation.   We have four outstanding children, three girls and one boy, ages 17, 11, 10, and 8.

I continued my education and earned a Masters Degree in Learning Disabilities from Francis Marion University and a Masters Degree in School Administration from USC.

I enjoy spending time with my family and am a big sports fan.   I love the Red Sox, Celtics, and Patriots and of course the Red Foxes.

I believe in teaching the whole child and meeting their needs in all areas of life, wherever they may be.  My mission is to help each student reach beyond their goals and develop skills that will allow them to become productive citizens and lifelong learners.

I am looking forward to a great school year.
